Had to get my transmission rebuilt, Mark gave me a couple options so I went with the upgrades and now my truck drives amazing. “Took a vehicle we had just received from family to get inspected. Everyone was very kind and professional and could not be more helpful. Within 40 minutes of dropping it off I received a call asking if I could stop back over. When I arrived they took me under the lifted vehicle and explained the myriad of issues the vehicle had. It was a complete lemon. The guys at Clarkston Automotive & Transmission did not charge for this visit which goes to show the care for the customer and honesty in how they run their business. Will be a future customer when my personal vehicle needs work.”

“I brought my Ford Transit in with 175k miles on it. Thought the trans was going and they spent 5 hours working on it and didn't even charge me after they diagnosed multiple issues. These issues I wanted to take care of myself and they didn't even charge me for my diagnosis. They really are trying to help you.”

“This is the place to go for your transmission needs. My car has been twice now. Both times for miniscule issues that were not big ticket repairs but these guys took care of my care like it was their own. They are quick, knowledgeable and professional, polite too. They are fair and they will fix your problem promptly. Wouldn't hesitate to go back, let's just knock on wood I don't have any transmission issues!”

“Extremely happy with the service I had received here. THEY had a tow truck come and get my car and waived that fee for me to have my work done there. That’s only the beginning. Not only are they very professional but, they are also very knowledgeable and down to earth people. Very honest and will take the time to explain and show what was wrong. They had waited after hours for me to come there and pick up my car. Not only did they wait, they stuck around to show me and explained to me a couple questions I had without and hesitation. Highly recommend this place for your auto care, I will be a returning customer!”

“I've had wonderful experiences here, a place that I'd highly recommend to anyone! friendly and very knowledgeable guys that take care to make sure you're back on the road in no time. being a female with car troubles can raise some anxiety, worrying that you're being talked into fixing a whole list of problems when you just come in to replace a belt or something... Well not at Clarkston transmission. Their customer service is very transparent, these guys know how to break down exactly what's going on under the hood in a way that anyone can understand. All of my experiences have been 5 stars. As are the responses of anyone I've recommended thier services. So next time you have something funny going on with your car, sit back, relax, and let Clarkston transmission do the work! And if it's a "quick fix" there's a great place next door to grab a burger!!”

“I recently had my transmission rebuilt here. The gentlemen there were very nice and showed me what went wrong with the parts and explained to me how they are supposed to work under normal conditions. They were nice enough to replace some of the parts they noticed that were bad at the cost of the part only for me. I highly recommend them for service and will go back to them if the need should ever arise again.”

“I called clarkston trans cause my truck had broke down on sashabaw rd they had a tow truck to me in 1/2 hour and looked at my truck the same day. My fuel pump was bad. They replaced it and had me back on the road in less then 24 hrs. Good honest people. Highly recommend!”

“I'm not sure if this business name will change or not because Clarkston Transmission is under new ownership as of late October, 2016. This location was bought by the owner of a Cottman Transmission location in Flint. I went there on what (I believe) was the second day of new ownership for a trans fluid and filter change after scheduling an appointment. The first thing the technician did was take my vehicle for a test drive. I can understand why this is done (to document any problems before service so that someone can't complain about a problem after service and blame Clarkston Trans.). I was a little shocked to see the technician accelerate rather quickly onto Dixie Highway in my vehicle... with his arm hanging out the window!!! After returning, he began to work on my vehicle. After about 30 minutes of work, the tech comes in to the office and asks the (new) owner to come into the shop for a second. This startled me a bit. The owner came back in and politely apologized to me about the fact that they did not have the replacement gasket for my transmission pan, and that they would need to buy one from somewhere else. I'm not sure where they went, but the tech returned about a half hour later and continued to work. After another 45 minutes, the tech said my service was completed. I went to pay (a price the owner and I agreed on over the phone) with a credit card. The owner told me they did not have a working credit card machine. Instead, he called it in to his other shop and ran the transaction over the phone with his other shop (he explained he bought the shop a couple days ago and wasn't set up yet). This did not sit right with me. He also did not have a printer set up, so he asked if he could send me a picture of the receipt through a text message. I agreed. After about 20 minutes, I left.

Though this was not the experience I was hoping for, the service they performed was good. I checked under my vehicle for about a week to see if there were any leaks. A couple days ago (this being a month after the original service) I checked the dipstick and noticed the fluid was completely full and very clean. I was very pleased to see that. No errors came from the charge on my credit card, either, so I was also happy to see that.

I'm sure that the owner has these kinks worked out by now, and that this is a good place to have simple maintenance done. I can't speak for major repairs, though. I would suggest calling ahead and making an appointment, and asking to make sure that they have all of the necessary parts in stock to complete your service.”

“Great place. The've re-built the transmissions in both my cars. Both rebuilds resulted in transmissions better than the originals. Even after 3 years they are smooth and silent.”

“I called Clarkston Transmission when I thought it had gone finally. They could have easily lied to me, but were honest and told me it was the Drive Axle. Now what I thought was my transmission going seems to have mainly been from that instead and I got away with only spending about a third of what a transmission would have cost. I will definitely go to them again and recommend them at everyone.”

“Clarkston Transmission did a great job repairing my Chevy Trailblazer. The rear differential wore out from age and they repaired it quickly and correctly. It's working great and I was only without the car for a Friday through a Monday. The price wasn't cheap but 2/3 of that was the parts so the labor rate was reasonable. It's a friendly place and they seem honest and trustworthy I would recommend if you need transmission work you take your vehicle there.”

“My car died on I-75, and my insurance didn't cover anything by a tow truck within so many miles so I took it to a dealership that had outrageous estimates. My husband's family has always taken their cars to Metamora Muffler, but since they don't do transmissions they recommended Clarkston Transmission. I could not be anymore grateful. The cost was HALF of what the dealership was asking, and in less time, with a longer warranty!

In addition to their good customer service mentioned above, when I came to pick up my car they asked me to come back in 2 weeks for a check-up/inspection. The follow-up did not take long and they even topped off my fluids.
